A few days before our wedding!

Most of people that see us always tell us: “you guys look so calm for a couple that is getting married next week!”

God has been so good to us, that he is giving us total peace and enjoyment through this time of preparation for the wedding. Many of you may not know, but because of our ministry we travel quite a bit. Since the second week of November I and Mayerlin have been traveling. I was in Ecuador for 9 days, then stop at in Lima for less than 2 days, out of those days I only saw Mayerlin for 4 hrs. because she was in Iquitos for almost 10 days. Then I flew to Iquitos for 2 nights and just got back to Lima today ( less than a week before our religious wedding, and less than 2 days for our civil wedding!)

Right before our travels, Mayerlin looked at me and said: “Honey, it is awesome that God is confirming and opening the doors for our wedding, but we are CRAZY!, we will be traveling and won’t see each other for a couple weeks, then we will met again less than a week before we get marry… I think I will be giving birth to our first child on the plane!”… We laugh so hard.

The reason why I shared this with you is because the Bible says: “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10:22). The word Sorrow in its original literally means “painful effort, or work with pain”.  We have learned what it means to enjoy God´s blessings, to enjoy the time of preparation for our new amazing adventure with God. We understand God´s blessing make rich and does not add painful work with it!

Marriage is God´s idea, He created from the very begging for us. So He knows what we need and most importantly HE has what we need, HE IS what we need, whatever this might be. We are resting in His promises, we are resting in Him, because we know who He is, we have tasted His loving kindness and mercy.

Once again, there is nothing better than be on God´s timing and God´s will! It truly brings richness, joy and fulfillment!

Thank you for everyone that have send us a love offering for our wedding!
God is providing our needs and He has chosen you to do so, thank you!

Cesar and Mayerlin: missionary love!

How did we meet?

It was one of the first times I went to the jungle of Peru to do missions (Cesar), it was the first time we took a peruvian team (Feb 2010), I have always worked with Julio (Mayerlin´s Dad). However, this time Julio was very busy and couldn’t host us. Nevertheless, he told me that her youngest daughter could help our group. Mayerlin was born and raised in Leticia, the city border where Brazil, Peru and Colombia met. At first I thought (Cesar) “oh well, is better than going by myself” but never I imagine I was going to felt in love with this amazing woman of God.

When I knew I had to help another team (Mayi) I was very happy to know that a group from Lima would come to bless my home city. at the time I was living in Iquitos and it was a great opportunity to go back to Colombia and help this missionaries. However I never thought I was going to find the man of my dreams.

When I was saying goodbye to Cesar at the airport, I had a big question mark on my heart. Would this be possible? I thought. My plans where to go to Cartagena (Colombia) and work with a YWAM Base, Lima or Peru was not in my plans, but God knows how to put us in the right path.

Is it true that Mayerlin declare her love to Cesar first?

Cesar: Yes! Everything started as a joke and then it became serious. So one day after we when to Leticia (Colombia) and before reaching the YWAM Base in Iquitos, we stop at a jungle community. It was very early and had just finish having breakfast. All the students went off to do their quite times, and it was only myself, Mayi, My sister Anita and her mom Yola. We were just talking and she said to me: “Cesar, you are not going to believe what happened this morning, I was taking a shower and I heard the voice of God so clear, He told me that I was going to be your wife and you don’t have to look for it anymore” …. As you can imagine I started laughing and thought, wow she is crazy! My sister Anita is a witness of this and she remembers it, very clearly.

Mayerlin: Yes, this is true. I liked Cesar from the very begging, and I talked to Anita (Cesar’s sister) to find out if he was dating anyone. I was happy to hear he wasn’t, and decided to play a joke on him. But it happened to be real! God uses everything, even an innocent joke.

Cesar: To be honest with you guys, I am one of those people who will not even think about starting a relationship when I am in the mission field. This is why I “lock my heart” and left it in Lima when I was in the jungle. If Mayerlin wouldn’t start our conversation and give the “first step” I would probably never thought about dating her. I am so happy and thankful to God that she did! She is very special and has given me security and courage!
